Approach
I provide holistic support to fundraising teams, to ensure that their fundraising is sustainable — and even joyful.
Fundraising is all about building relationships. Those relationships support donors to find meaningful ways to invest deeply in community-led solutions to systemic issues. By centering authenticity, equity, and transparency in my work, I have raised millions of dollars from foundations, corporations, and individuals for mission-based organizations.
Fundraising staff are critical to mission-based work.
Without fundraisers, we wouldn't have the money to run our programming and fulfill our missions. Yet, surveys show that most development professionals turn over after only 1-2 years at an organization. This turnover makes it hard for nonprofits to remain sustainable. When you have a transition in development leadership, on average, organizations can expect to lose 100-200% of their salary and benefits, not to mention the loss of relationship capital.¹
My practice addresses the root cause of burnout.
Fundraisers are being asked to raise increasing amounts of money without adequate staffing and support from their teams. They inevitably leave their organization because they are burnt out and stretched too thin. If this sounds familiar, it’s because most small nonprofits are facing the same dynamics: not enough money, too few staff, and a big vision for the way the world could be.
Throughout my career, I’ve learned what needs to change in order for fundraisers to stay in their roles past the 2-year mark. In my practice, I seek to address the root cause of burnout, working with teams and individuals to make sustainable and values-based development plans to both meet their revenue goals and encourage work-life balance.
Together, we can create environments where fundraisers — and all staff — can thrive.
